Saturday happenings

Before the sun rose for the day Clarissa and I were on the road (5:30 to be exact) towards Jeff City, MO. Thus the reason for the weepy eyes in the pic!

We attended the first ever MO Republican Women's Conference that started at 8:30. We first feasted on fruit, lots of coffee and after some deliberation...a big fat filled, chocolate filled donut!

There were plenty of amazing speakers. The main draw was Liz Chaney, past VPresident Chaney's daughter. What an eloquent speaker. She even made the word "thugs" sound like music. She's a very knowlegeable and pretty woman too!

The challenge for the day is to make a difference and inform seven ladies in your everyday walk of life. Help the undecided's to decide with factual information on four points; taxation, health, environment and economy. Do you want your government to rule all of these? Seven votes can make the difference in who becomes the state representative that is elected in your state to serve you.

One week ago....

Sometimes I struggle to remember what I have done just the day before but......

This house, it's contents, occupants and it's occupants siblings will forever be in my favorite memories file.

What a lovely time spent with a dear friend as she shares her life and gal pals in WA with me. I have watched and waited so long to finally meet The Lady in the Stonehouse and her AWESOME photographer sister. Both just as sweet as the treats we snacked on that night.

Pumpkins galore

As I get older there are just some things from childhood that I still love to do. Carving pumpkins is one of them!

This year I got to try out a new style of pumpkin carving while visiting my dear friend, Becky, in Washington state. Despite the rain, we selected just the right size and shape for our project.

Here are our creations that were taken from the Home Life magazine. We let the pumkins dry while Becky prepared a wonderful...and warm...dinner. We then drew our designs and carved just deep enough into the pumpkins to remove the darker skin revealing the lighter. We used a paring knife, art knife, potatoe peeler and her son, Jason, even took a try with a chisel from the garage! Ta-da, finished! Happy Fall!

Costuming the OHS Play

One of my new endeavors is creating costumes for the Ozark High School plays. My step-daughter, Nikki, is a senior this year and is very involved with the Drama Department. My Mom and I got involved last spring when Nikki needed help creating some costumes for the production of "Alice In Wonderland".

This fall I am costuming for the production of "Joseph And The Technicolor Dreamcoat". I am letting you catch a sneak peek at the back of you know who's jacket! There are alot of fun costumes in this play. Nikki is Potipher's wife so you can only imagine the boldness of this costume. Another fun one, yet to come, is the costume of Elvis/Pharoah who is played by.....my hubby!

The play runs November 12 & 13 and tickets are $5.00. I invite you to come see Nikki and Shane perform and to catch a eyeball full of costumes!

Scrappin' away at Susan's house.

Just thrilled to share the pages that I got done last night at Susan's house. Poor girl didn't get to join me (at her house) until after 8:30 because of shivering at the tennis tourney for her Greenwood girls.

Love getting to complete these pages along with alot of work completed on a secret Christmas present! I had bought these papers on clearance when I was shopping to put together a travel gift basket for Camp Scrap at church. I loved the colors and the double sided paper! I snatched a couple punches of butterflies from Susan's lovely punch supply and this red flower that backs the brad that I had bought in KC when we were together a couple months ago. It's so much fun to use some of the things that don't come together but look as if they did!

I fell in love with Archiever's Sony picture machine and went collage crazy....which leads me to these two wallet sized picture layouts. I love em' because I can use so many pictures and still have some blank space (which is such a new technique for me).

Taking the plunge into the blogging pond!

It certainly is a grand day as I create and post on my first blog. Bear with me as I am "wading" through all this new information.

I wanted to share one of many of my uncompleted projects! I love to start projects but then find something even more exciting and well..... I have a hard time checking DONE on the previous ones that I started.

This one is near the finish! All that is left to do is the construction of the serger cover. All the applique work is done thanks to the time I had at Camp Scrap. I used scraps of wool that I washed in hot water and dried in the dryer to "felt". I then created a pattern and cut out my pieces to blanket stitch onto the cover pattern pieces that I made from the plastic cover that originally came with my sewing and serger machines. Do you like?
